Do you find one can achieve healthy thyroid hormone function by nutrition and initial supplementation of T3 and T4? I’m looking for an end in sight so that one isn’t dependent on thyroid hormone for life. Curious what your thoughts would be?

Hey sorry, I didn't see your comment until now. I'm sure that's possible, but the environment is getting worse, not better, so that should be integrated into the equation I think.

"The environment in a sense is a completion of the organism's structure..."

—Mind and Tissue by Ray Peat (1985)

"If our environment fails us a little today, our needs will be much greater tomorrow."

— Nutrition for Women by Ray Peat (1973)

I'm also curious about this!

I also want to leave my thyroid medication behind (Armour). Thyroid damage seems to be for metabolic reasons in most people, although mine is from radiation. The only research I've seen about resolving this is to either surgically graft thyroid tissue onto currently-existing tissue, or to regenerate it with stem cells. The first option is more well-understood, so a laparoscopic implant procedure may be the way to go, if that becomes available.

You may also know that very small electrical currents can accelerate wound healing, relieve pain, etc., so that may become another option. The currents are far less than most at-home electrotherapy type devices, so definitely don't do anything without a lot of research! Start with Carolyn McMakin, and a technology called Frequency Specific Microcurrent.

Is standard process thyroid pmg same as an armour?

Is armour indicated for hashimoto? Thanks

Hi Danny, Thanks for this article. It strikes a great balance between detail and focusing on the essentials. I was wondering if you had heard of anyone's experiences about Bitiron (https://www.t3tiromel.com/product/bitiron-t3-and-t4-mix-each-tab-has-50-mcg-levothyroxine-t4-and-12-5-mcg-liothyronine-t3/) as an alternative to Cynoplus (which is unavail atm).

More generally, do you have opinions on a synthetic vs ndt thyroid as better/worse in particular ways?

Thanks.

I’m curious about Ray’s reasoning for topical application of fat solubles to the legs… haven’t been able to unearth much about that. Could you clarify why that’s a better option than, say, the wrists? Thanks!

Helen, I don't have insight into that, but will say that 5000 IU of D3 on my face looks great, and I think is a reasonable way to take it in, because D3 is produced by our skin. It's normal for D3 to be in highest concentration there, and then be distributed throughout the body as needed. I apply it 20-30 min. after showering, when the skin on my face begins to dry out.

Also, I don't apply it to the areas immediately under each eye if I'll be in public, because I don't like that area to look shiny/oily. You could apply it there, then cover it with a powder, if you'd like.

Hey Danny, I’ve been taking a whole Cynomel tablet each day for the last few days. I haven’t really noticed much difference. I am cutting up one tablet into 4 pieces and taking 1 piece every few hours with a meal. Im using the bathroom normally (several times a day), I'm making magnesium bicarbonate, I’m eating oysters, etc. basically everything you’re supposed to do. Im even taking small amounts of progest e and DHEA. Do you have any ideas on what I should do? I have Cynoplus as well but I haven’t tried it yet. (I’m trying to treat excessive lactic acid, ED and other autoimmune like symptoms. Thank you Danny!

My temps get up to 100 degrees but I don’t feel excessively hot or uncomfortable at all.

For Hashimoto's thyroiditis with tsh at 15000 is Cynomel or Cynoplus more suitable? I have always tried to manage my thyroid without taking drugs but I think it's time to help my metabolism at 60 years old.

Hey Danny,

Do you know the (partial) cellular resistance to thyroid hormone ?

John C Lowe wrote and talked a lot about it. He had to take about 150 mcg of T3 every day to fonction normally. And i already took a full bottle of Cynomel in one day, so 2500 mcg of T3 with absolute no effects ! I think maybe Dr Raymond Peat wasn't aware of that pathology. Also i know it's not the topic but even 8 grams of aspirin is doing nothing for me. I'm like a desperate case !

Cordially,

Sofiane

cerebration, not celebration. that might help your internet search.

Does anyone know what the symptom referred to as "slow celebration" is on the historical list of hypothyroidism symptoms? I dutifully ran several internet searches. I saw it paired with "psychosis," but nothing more.

I feel like that's an idea for a Substack for one you prolific writers.

T3 Free Non-Dialysis 3.6 Range: 2.0 - 4.8 pg/mL TC
